Summary | Princes was a play about the Parsi community in Mumbai. It was Patel’s first outing as a playwright and marked his evolution from an ordinary theatrewallah into a writer to be reckoned with. The setting for the play was born out of Patel’s firm belief that, “If we takes a close look at a small group and write intimately about it, the writing acquires a universal character.” Princes came in second in first Sultan Padamsee Playwriting competition. Pearl Padamsee directed the first production of Prices, while Alyque Padamsee played the lead role and designed the set and lights for the show. |
