Plot | The Glass Menagerie is a five-character memory play by Tennessee Williams. The play has strong autobiographical elements, featuring characters based on Williams himself, his histrionic mother, and his mentally fragile sister Rose. It is a memory play set in St. Louis in 1937, which is based on the protagonist Tom’s recollection of his mother Amanda and sister Laura.
The Glass Menagerie premiered in 1944 and catapulted Williams from obscurity to fame. |
